Sexual well-being

Sexual well-being is the subjective evaluation of emotional, physical, social, and cognitive aspects of one’s sexuality. Sexual well-being is an essential component of quality of life and romantic relationships. Individuals with good sexual health report numerous physical and psychological health benefits, as well as lower mortality rates. Yet, 50% of adults in romantic relationships report sexual dysfunction. Older adults aged 60 and over, long-term couples, and survivors of trauma are at higher risk of experiencing sexual difficulties. Thus, the objective of our research is to document the factors at play in the sexual wellbeing of various populations including community couples and more vulnerable populations (e.g. couples in which one of the people has sexual dysfunction or aging couples) to prevent sexual distress and promote long-term sexual well-being.
